KIM LONG MOTOR signs agreement to export 3.000 buses to Thailand

HNN.VN - On June 27, KIM LONG MOTOR HUE Joint Stock Company and CHO THAVEE Group (Thailand) officially signed an agreement on large-scale bus sales and cooperation, marking a significant milestone in the journey of bringing Vietnamese automobiles to the regional market.

According to the agreement, KIM LONG MOTOR will supply 3,000 electric buses (EVs) and buses using YUCHAI engines each year. These buses will be manufactured at the KIM LONG MOTOR engine manufacturing plant in Hue and it will be used for passenger transport operations in Thailand. This is KIM LONG MOTOR’s first large-scale bus export contract with a strategic partner in Southeast Asia.

CHO THAVEE is a leading industrial group in Thailand, operating in the fields of transportation vehicle manufacturing, airport equipment, light rail systems, and smart urban solutions. With an extensive network of partners and a key role in Thailand’s sustainable transportation development strategy, the partnership with CHO THAVEE presents a significant opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises to expand into the regional market.

The two main bus models mentioned in the contract are 12-meter electric buses and 7.5-meter diesel buses. The electric buses stand out with their modern design, advanced battery technology, smooth operation, and environmental friendliness, aligning with Thailand’s green transportation development strategy. The diesel buses are equipped with YUCHAI engines that meet Euro 5 standards. Furthermore, these buses are manufactured in a small and flexible design, which is suitable for urban operation. These buses are manufactured directly at the KIM LONG MOTOR factory in Hue, a project with a total investment of USD 260 million and an automation rate of over 90%.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Dao Viet Anh, General Director of KIM LONG MOTOR emphasized: “Following South Korea, Thailand will be the next country to mark the presence of KIM LONG buses. This is not only an important milestone for our company but also demonstrates our commitment to providing high-quality, internationally standardized products to the regional market”.

Their bus models not only meet high technical standards but also offer flexible customization, making them well-suited to the practical operational needs in Thailand”.

In the context of Southeast Asia accelerating the transition to green, smart, and sustainable transportation, the partnership between KIM LONG MOTOR and CHO THAVEE is expected to contribute to the promotion of clean transport development, while also affirming the position of Vietnamese enterprises in the international market.
