The event marks a significant milestone in Kim Long Motor’s long-term strategy, underscoring its ambition to master core technologies, gradually build a comprehensive electric vehicle ecosystem, and contribute to green transformation and enhanced competitiveness of Vietnam’s automotive industry.

Under the cooperation agreement, Kim Long Motor Hue will invest in building a new energy battery manufacturing plant in Vietnam, with comprehensive technology and technical transfer from the BYD Group. The plant, to be located at Kim Long Motor Hue automobile manufacturing and assembly industrial park, will specialize in producing batteries for trucks, buses, minivans, and minibuses… serving domestic demand and targeting export markets.

Accordingly, the BYD battery manufacturing plant project has a total investment of approximately USD 130 million across 2 phases. Phase 1 will be developed on 4.4 hectares with a designed capacity of 2.3 GWh per year, and is expected to become operational in May 2026. Once operations are stabilized, the project will move into Phase 2, increasing total capacity to 3.0 GWh annually. The plant will adopt advanced technologies, high level of automation, and modern quality management systems, helping secure a stable domestic battery supply for Vietnam’s automotive industry.

Mr. Dao Viet Anh, Chief Executive Officer of Kim Long Motor, emphasized: “Kim Long Motor identifies the development of electric vehicles not merely an inevitable trend, but a long-term strategy closely linked to the self-reliance of the national industrial sector. Our strategic partnership with BYD Group and the investment in the BYD battery manufacturing plant demonstrate our strong commitment to mastering core technologies, rather than stopping at assembly or outsourcing. Green industrial development is not only a social responsibility, but also a sustainable competitive advantage for businesses in the era of the green economy”.

Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Phan Quy Phuong informed that the event marks the start of implementing the city leadership’s directions for 2026, with the goal of regularly and continuously organizing groundbreaking and inauguration activities on a monthly and quarterly basis. The project is a pioneering initiative that clearly reflects the city’s orientation toward attracting green, clean, and sustainable industrial investment. The city is committed to accompanying and facilitating the project so it can be completed and put into effective operation at the earliest possible time, making a positive contribution to local socio-economic development.
