Enhancing shrimp farming skills with digital technology

HNN.VN - On the morning of October 17, the People’s Committee of Phong Phu Ward, in collaboration with NextX Future Joint Stock Company (Ho Chi Minh City), held a training session aimed at enhancing the digital technology skills of nearly 50 local households, aquaculture facility owners, and businesses involved in black tiger shrimp farming.

During the session, participants were introduced to the smart aquaculture process developed and implemented by NextX, which features sensor-based devices and the automated management software "Nextfarm." The system enables real-time monitoring of key water quality parameters such as dissolved oxygen, pH levels, and temperature. It also provides early warnings when indicators exceed safe limits, and automatically controls feeding machines and aerators. Farmers can monitor and manage pond conditions anytime, anywhere, via a mobile application.

In addition to theoretical instruction, attendees had the opportunity for hands-on practice with the Nextfarm control system and app. They learned how to configure automated operation modes, set schedules, and handle changes in environmental conditions.

The training program was highly appreciated for its practical value and ease of application, contributing to the advancement of digital transformation in the local agricultural sector.

Phong Phu Ward currently has more than 65 households and facilities engaged in aquaculture, covering over 64 hectares of water surface, primarily concentrated in residential groups such as Phong Thanh, Trung Dong, My Hoa, and Tan Hoi. In addition, six companies - such as CP Farm Hue, Thuan Phuoc Farm, and Thien An Phu - are operating on more than 23 hectares and plan to expand farming models to over 433 hectares in the near future, in line with the approved zoning plan.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Chairman of the Phong Phu Ward People’s Committee, the integration of technology into aquaculture is expected to help farmers reduce costs, minimize risks caused by environmental fluctuations, improve productivity and product quality, and promote sustainable, eco-friendly aquaculture development.
