Mr. Tran Huu Thuy Giang, Member of the City Party Committee and Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee, spoke at the workshop

The workshop focused on providing information about global Halal market development trends, as well as requirements and standards for Halal products and services. It also shared experience in product development and certification, and introduced opportunities for investment, trade, and tourism cooperation with potential markets, particularly Indonesia and Malaysia.

For Hue, the Halal market is seen as a potential avenue for diversifying its tourism markets and developing industries and services that meet the needs of Muslim visitors. In 2025, Hue welcomed 6.3 million visitors, including 1.9 million international arrivals. In the first 9 months of 2026, the city welcomed more than 6.4 million visitors, up 29% year on year, including an estimated more than 1.9 million international visitors, up 35.5%. The number of Muslim visitors reached nearly 22,070 in 2025, and 11,801 in the first 7 months of 2026.

Hue has many advantages for developing products and services for the Halal market, from its location along the East-West Economic Corridor, and well-connected transport infrastructure to its wealth of heritage, cultural, natural, and culinary resources. In particular, vegetarian cuisine is an advantage that can be studied, adapted, and developed into products meeting Halal standards.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Tran Huu Thuy Giang, Member of the City Party Committee and Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee, said that Hue is not approaching the Halal market as a passing trend, but rather as a carefully researched and step-by-step standardization process, aimed at long-term, substantive, and sustainable development.

In the coming time, the city plans to step up promotion and marketing activities; gradually improve infrastructure and services to meet Halal standards; and develop Halal tourism products featuring Hue’s identity, with heritage, culture, cuisine, wellness, and ecology serving as the foundation.

The Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee emphasized that the workshop provided an opportunity for local authorities and the business community to update their knowledge of the Halal market, gain practical experience, and explore investment, trade, and tourism cooperation opportunities with potential markets such as Indonesia and Malaysia.
