The shipment includes 58 lifeboats and work boats, 1,000 sets of dishes, 1,000 blankets, 1,000 bedding sets, 55 tents, and various canned foods, with a total weight of about 29 tons. The cargo was transported on the special aircraft numbered SUM 9121 operated by the Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief of the Russian Federation, which landed at 6:35am on the morning of October 30.

At the working session with the leaders of Hue City on the evening of October 28, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Hoang Hiep informed that right after receiving the information of the severe flooding in Hue, the Russian Embassy in Vietnam proactively proposed that the Government of Russia would provide emergency support to Vietnamese people living in the flood-hit areas.

“This is a meaningful gift, reflecting the sincere sentiments and traditional friendly relationship between the Government and people of Russian Federation and Vietnam. It contributes to sharing the hardships of Hue local people in their time of difficulty”, affirmed Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep.

According to the Department of Dike Management and Natural Disaster Prevention, all relief supplies will be transported to Hue City right on October 30 to promptly distribute to households severely affected by the floods.
