Zhishan Foundation Taiwan awards scholarships to nearly 600 children in difficult circumstances

HNN.VN - In the framework of implementing the project of supporting scholarships for disadvantaged children in 2020 sponsored by Zhishan Foundation Taiwan (Z.F), the Provincial Child Protection Fund in collaboration with Z.F Project Office, and the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of the 7 units in project area held a scholarship awarding ceremony for the 1st phase of 2020 and gave presents to 597 children benefitting from the projects.

In the first season of 2020, 597 children in difficult circumstances in 7 districts, towns, and Hue city in the Z.F project area received scholarships and presents.

In this season, 7 localities in the area implementing the scholarship awarding project were Phong Dien, Quang Dien, Huong Tra Town, Huong Thuy Town, Phu Vang, Phu Loc, and Hue City. 452 primary and secondary students received the scholarship worth of VND 600.000 per portion, and 145 high school students received the scholarships worth of VND 800.000 per portion.

Together with the scholarships, they also received lucky money and other gifts from the sponsor on the occasion of International Children’s Day (June 1st) and the Action Month for Children in 2020.

The total expense of the scholarships, lucky money, and gifts for 597 children in this season was over VND 417 million. The representative of the Provincial Children Protection Fund informed that according to the plan, this activity was organized in February 2020. However, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, this activity had to be postponed. Although being behind the schedule, those gifts were granted timely to encourage and support children overcoming their difficulties after coming back to school.
