The model of community football in Hue will be expanded to many places

HNN.VN - On the morning of October 27, the project “Football For All in Vietnam” (FFAV) - the Football Association of Norway summarized its journey after 15 years of operation through the event “Funny Football festival” in Thuy Phu secondary school (Huong Thuy town), at the same time announcing the termination of the project in provincial area.

With a total funding of 3.852.709 USD from the Football Association of Norway, FFAV has established 216 football clubs with over 1.900 football teams and 19.000 male and female players taking part in regularly; developing 2 model clubs at the Gifted & Talented Education Center (Hue city) and Huong An secondary school (Huong Tra town); supporting the education on gender life skills with the participation of 4.656 female students.

The model of community football in Hue is applied by over 600 clubs in other cities, provinces.

In addition to the participation to the Kicking Aids Out system (propagandizing about HIV/AIDS), etc. the FFAV also trains the life skills into football activities, games which are integrated with the messages including personal hygiene, environmental hygiene, environment protection, communication skills, HIV/AIDS, traffic safety, national defense education on bombs, mines prevention; taking 4 student delegations to attend the Norwegian Cup – the biggest football movement championship for children on planet at Oslo (Norway); taking 1 disabled delegation to take part in the football championship for people with disabilities at Oslon; holding the Norway – Vietnam – Laos –Thailand football Cup 2010; holding the Cup Football For All in Vietnam (FFAV Cup); deploying the models of “Interesting Football Festival”, “Football Movement Schools”, etc.

Mr. Dang Phuoc My, Deputy Director of Education and Training Department assessed: “After 15 years of operation, FFAV has helped children to be more confident, dynamic and united; the children’s awareness on life skills is also improved. Through FFAV, there are 6 girls playing for the national U15 team, 7 girls playing for Than Quang Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City teams, 2 girls are national female referees. These are the foundations for the development of female football in the big championships of the province in the future.”

From the opinions of project’s members, teachers, parents, with an aim to sustainably develop the community football clubs after the project withdraws from Hue, Mr. Adres Hasselgard – Head of the Department of International Cooperation - the Football Association of Norway affirmed: “The project of community football will move its office to Ha Noi. With the achievements gained, we will use the model of Thua Thien Hue to keep on deploying it in other cities, provinces of Vietnam, as well as in countries all over the world”.
