At the reception, Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong expressed his joy when welcoming Mr. Marc E. Knapper. Over the past time, the cooperation between Thua Thien Hue and the US has had many positive developments in many fields such as culture, education and training, health, economy, trade and investment, tourism, science and technology, environmental protection, natural disaster prevention, climate change, heritage restoration, support for people with disabilities, and war consequences settlement, etc.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong suggested that the US side consider funding for humanitarian mine clearance and socio-economic development after the clearance in the province; as well as providing funding for cultural, health, education and training activities, and the field of climate change adaptation and environmental protection in the coming time. He hoped that the US Ambassador would introduce US businesses to invest and do business in the province and support the province's businesses to promote export of goods to the US market; especially in the sectors including: textiles and garments, beer, minerals, tourism, manufacturing and processing industry, electronics, automobile manufacturing; construction of seaports, renewable energy, services, and port logistics, etc.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also hoped that the Ambassador would pay attention and introduce US art troupes to perform at Hue Festival in 2024 in order to strengthen the cultural cooperation, introduce Hue culture and Vietnamese culture to the American people; support programs and projects on conservation and restoration of Hue relics through the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP); support to connect the cruise tourism activities with the development of products serving cruise visitors associated with the specific strengths of Thua Thien Hue.

Mr. Marc E. Knapper thanked the provincial leaders for their warm welcome. The Ambassador highly evaluated the province's potential and development space, and at the same time said that over the previous time, Thua Thien Hue had transformed and developed strongly, especially in the fields of culture, tourism and investment promotion. The US Ambassador exchanged and learned more about the development orientations of the province and in some specific areas.
The Ambassador also acknowledged and highly evaluated the information and opinions exchanged by the provincial leaders. According to the Ambassador, in the coming time, he will strive to connect and support the fields that Hue needs, such as attracting investment, developing tourism, and the friendly cooperation with the localities in the US..., along with projects to support the socio-economic development of the province.
