Hue to host the 45th AIMF General Assembly

HNN.VN - From May 21st -29th, a delegation from Hue City, led by Deputy Secretary of Hue City’s Party Committee and Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, Vo Le Nhat, visited Lausanne, Switzerland, to attend the general assembly of the International Association of Francophone Mayors (AIMF). The delegation also signed a cooperation agreement with Namur, Belgium, and held meetings with EURASIA Association in Switzerland and the city of Blois in France.

Hue has been an active member of AIMF since 1992, and has been recognized for its active and dynamic participation in the association's activities. The city has received numerous project sponsorships in various fields such as culture, education, environment, urban infrastructure, and staff training. Aside from the official program of the general assembly, Hue delegation also met with the AIMF Secretariat to evaluate the effectiveness of their cooperation projects and discuss future collaboration areas.

At the 44th AIMF General Assembly in Lausanne, Hue was elected to the AIMF Executive Committee for the 2024-2026 term and chosen as the host city for the 45th AIMF General Assembly in 2025. This event will provide Hue with an opportunity to interact and promote its image to 325 member cities from 54 countries worldwide.

Aside from the conference in Lausanne, Hue and Namur also renewed their cooperation agreement for the 2024-2029 period, aiming to support the foreign policy of both French-speaking cities and enhance their international cooperation to contribute to the overall development of the French-speaking community. The agreement covers areas such as cultural exchange, heritage conservation and promotion, green space planning, and the establishment of a “Hue - Smart and Sustainable” center with AIMF support. 

In Blois, the Hue delegation met with the Mayor and his colleagues at the City Hall to strengthen cooperation between the two cities based on the twinning agreement signed in 2007. Blois is one of three French cities that have signed cooperation agreements with Hue and has had many successful collaborations in the fields of culture, education, and festivals.
