3 cities from Vietnam listed among the Best cities in Southeast Asia

HNN.VN - Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang were all honored in the category of Best Cities in Southeast Asia, in 2022 Asia's Best Awards ranking by the American famous travel magazine “Travel & Leisure.”

In the list of top 10 cities in Southeast Asia, 3 cities are from Vietnam, namely Da Nang on the 3rd place, Hanoi the 5th and Ho Chi Minh City the 8th.

In this category, Bangkok, Thailand won the first place and Jakarta of Indonesia ranked 10th. Other places in the list include Singapore, Kuala Lumpur (of Malaysia), Chiang Mai (Thailand), Hong Kong (China), and Phnom Penh of Cambodia.

Besides the three vibrant cities, two beautiful islands of Vietnam, Phu Quoc and Côn Đảo, were also honored in the category of the top 10 Best islands in Southeast Asia, in which, Phu Quoc was ranked 4th and Côn Đảo 10th in the list.

Vietnam’s oldest cadastral record preserved in Hue

Hue is a land that bears the imprint of the southward migration and territorial expansion undertaken more than 700 years ago by the people of ancient Thuan Hoa. Very few documents reveal the timing of these migration waves or the organization and formation of Vietnamese villages in the region. Yet during fieldwork, I gained access to several ancient Han-Nom documents recording the migration, land reclamation, and establishment of villages and communes. Most notably is a cadastral record dating to the 9th year of the Dai Hoa reign (1451) under King Le Nhan Tong, compiled exactly 575 years ago.
