On the morning of April 20, Hue City Institute for Development Studies, in coordination with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hue City, organized a training workshop titled: “Applying Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Standards in Production and Business Operations: Sustainable Solutions to Expand Markets and Supply Chains”.

On the morning of April 17, Hue City Fisheries Association officially launched a project titled “Green Fisheries - A Circular Economic Initiative Led by Women in the Fisheries Sector in Hue City” (HUEFIS). The project aims to address the challenges related to gender inequality, environmental protection, and foster the sustainable development of the fisheries sector in Hue City’s coastal and lagoon localities.

Phu Bai Industrial Park is steadily asserting its role as a key growth driver of the locality, making significant contributions to the socio-economic development of Phu Bai Ward in particular and the city in general. In this week’s column on Meeting, Mr. Le Ba Minh Hai, Chairman of Phu Bai Ward People’s Committee, shared insights into investment attraction strategies, along with efforts to build a favorable business environment, and orientations toward sustainable development.

For the 2026 - 2030 period, Hue has set a target of achieving an average annual GRDP growth rate of 10% or higher. To reach this goal, the city must define and plan key drivers capable of enabling rapid and sustainable development.

As heritage cities around the world search for sustainable development models, the concept of a “living museum city” is emerging as a direction many localities aspire to. With its distinctive cultural heritage and unique identity, Hue has every potential to become a typical example of this model.

On the afternoon of April 2nd, at the regular March meeting, Central Party Committee member, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Chairman of the City People’s Committee Nguyen Khac Toan emphasized that every policy decision must lay the foundation for long-term development. He also called for the entire system to implement solutions decisively and in a coordinated manner, striving to achieve double-digit growth in 2026.

Amid fluctuations in the global energy market and the risk of supply disruptions, especially for petroleum products, the dual approach of developing renewable energy while building a long-term fuel supply and reserve strategy has become a key requirement for Hue City to ensure sustainable growth.

As Hue undergoes a strong transformation toward a sustainable heritage - culture - tourism urban model, developing the night-time economy has become a practical necessity. The question, then, is how Hue should approach the night-time economy in a way that is both effective and civilized, while still preserving the “essence” of an Ancient Capital.

In the first two months of this year, Hue tourism attracted over 1.2 million tourist arrivals, witnessing an increase of nearly 48% year-on-year. This statistic highlights the appeal of extended holiday periods.

On the afternoon of March 12th, the Swiss Tourism for Sustainable Development Project in Vietnam officially signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with two leading tourism training institutions in central Vietnam: the School of Hospitality and Tourism - Hue University and Hue Tourism College. Attending the signing ceremony was Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh.
