After several attempts to “step back,” I was fortunate enough to squeeze into the packed schedule of Meritorious Physician, Level-II Specialist Dr. Nguyen Minh Hung, Director of the Phu Vang Medical Center, to hear the deeply heartfelt reflections of a physician who has spent over 30 years carrying out his mission of saving lives.

Amid the rhythm of modern life, as fashion becomes increasingly diverse and is constantly changing, the traditional ao-dai continues to remain a lasting presence in the lives of women in the former imperial capital. In Hue, the graceful image of women’s association members wearing Ao-dai is not only a symbol of beauty but also a way of preserving and spreading the traditional cultural values of their homeland.

Within the cultural complex of Hue, if the system of palaces and royal tombs defines the face of an Imperial capital, the villages along the lagoon and coastline preserve the depth of community life. There, heritage does not lie dormant in the past but lives on in every festival season, every daily custom, and every belief tied to the natural environment. The Cau Ngu Festival of Thai Duong village, held once every three years in January at the Thuan An seaport, is precisely such a heritage - a vibrant cultural practice where community memory, maritime knowledge, and the will to survive have woven together into an enduring whole across hundreds of years.

On March 7th, in Huong An Ward, the Youth Union of Huong An Ward, in coordination with Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Greenfeed Vietnam Joint Stock Company and Hue Youth Union, organized a program to provide livelihood support to disadvantaged households in the area, helping residents develop their economy and stabilize their lives.

There are people who work their entire lives quietly, yet their footprints remain deeply imprinted on the lands they have passed through, like an underground stream that silently nourishes an entire forest. Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Thang, Vice President of Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment, former Director of the Institute of Resources and Environment at Hue University, and former Dean of the Faculty of Environment at the University of Sciences, Hue University, is one such person.

For more than two decades, Hue City Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin has not only accompanied and shared the pain of more than 3,200 victims, but has also served as a compassionate home. From policy support and helping rebuild homes to the fight for justice, the association’s journey is a testament to the power of humanity and the engagement of the entire political system on behalf of lives bearing the legacy of Agent Orange. ​

On November 20, Hue City Red Cross launched the program of presenting 1,000 gifts to households affected and damaged by the recent exceptionally severe floods. The funding was allocated by Vietnam Red Cross Central Committee through the “Joining Hands to Overcome Floods” program, aiming to promptly help residents stabilize their lives after the disaster.

In response to the severe damage caused by prolonged flooding from October 27 to 30, 2025, which deeply inundated many areas and seriously affected the lives of thousands of workers in Hue City, numerous businesses across the area have promptly implemented support measures to help employees stabilize their lives as soon as possible.

After many years of sustaining their lives through regular blood transfusions, many pediatric patients suffering from congenital hemolytic anemia (Thalassemia) have now found the “light at the end of the tunnel” thanks to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation at Hue Central Hospital. From these successful transplant cases, a door of hope has opened, bringing the children a healthy, normal life and complete joy after so many difficult days.

The stretches of forest in A Luoi not only shelter the villages, but also have now become the livelihood foundation for locals. The Emission Reductions Payment Agreement (ERPA) in the North Central Region has helped people in the mountainous areas gain stable extra income, and more importantly, changed their perspective: Protecting the forest is not just a responsibility, but a right associated with their daily lives.
