On Facebook, amid the flood of news and images of inundation, among the urgent rescue and relief efforts by authorities and functional forces, I came across an image that warmed my heart: hot meals being packed and prepared for their journey from the area of fomer Phu Thuan to Hue Central Hospital, to be given to hungry patients trapped by the floods.

As many areas of Hue City are still submerged under water, warm lunchboxes prepared by women and kindhearted volunteers were delivered to residents in flooded neighborhoods and to patients in hospitals, bringing warmth and comfort to countless hearts as people continue to battle the floods.

A number of hotels, training centers, and educational institutions… have announced that they will provide free accommodation for people during the period of complex weather developments. This kind gesture warms many hearts amid the typhoon and rainy season.

Organizing STEAM educational experiences for students; a warm art night dedicated to mothers; a journey carrying books to a remote village; and a discussion with young people about French architecture, etc., these activities gave August a warm start at Hue Book and Culture Space - a cultural meeting place that, despite being new, has become a cherished part of Hue.

A friend of mine just came from the Southeastern region to visit Hue. After a day visiting various destinations, from the Imperial Citadel to the tombs of Emperors Gia Long and Minh Mang, then heading to the Van Thanh - Vo Thanh temples and Thien Mu Pagoda, my friend warmly remarked: “In Hue, wherever you go, you can see the Huong River. Now I understand why people here are so gentle and friendly. In this scene, by this river, it’s hard even to get upset!”.

Slow travel is emerging as a popular trend among many tourists. With its rich natural landscape, deep cultural and heritage roots, traditional way of life, and the unique warmth of its people, Hue holds many advantages for developing this form of tourism. On the evening of July 29, at Phu Bai International Airport, teachers and students of Quoc Hoc - Hue High School for the Gifted warmly welcomed Bui Hoang Dai Duong, a 12th-grade Biology-major class, who had just returned after winning a Silver Medal at the 2025 International Biology Olympiad (IBO) held in the Philippines.
