Within the framework of Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023, the Japanese ceramic exhibition “Yakishime - Shape of the Earth” offers visitors a unique perspective on the craft of the land of Fusang. The exhibition is held by the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam in collaboration with Hue Museum of Fine Arts. The exhibition is opened from April 27th to May 14th at the Diem Phung Thi Art Center.

Within the framework of Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023, on the morning of April 27, the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam cooperated with Hue Museum of Fine Arts and the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association in Thua Thien Hue Province to open a pottery exhibition "Yakishime - Earth Metamorphosis" at Diem Phung Thi Art Center.

After the photo exhibition “Trinh Cong Son - Meeting you again for first time” at Lan Vien Co Tich – the Huong River Museum of Antique Pottery (at 120 Nguyen Phuc Nguyen Street, Hue City) finished on March 14, it continues to be displayed at the Center for Culture, Information and Sports of Hue city (23-25 Le Loi street).

The ancient ruong houses, river wharfs from afar, the ancient gold apple tree (Diospyros decandra) and the flaming pottery kiln of Phuoc Tich ancient village became shimmering and poetic when being painted. From real-life objects to becoming a painting, these scenes contained a lot of painters’ emotions and vibration about a so-called rare ancient village of Vietnam.

Instead of using a turntable, the women move backwards around the piece to shape it. The pottery is not glazed but sundried and burned outdoors with firewood and straw for seven to eight hours, at about 800 degrees Celsius.
