On the morning of October 22, the first Vietnam Calligraphy Festival 2026 opened at the Co Mat Vien (Privy Council) - Tam Toa relic site under the theme ‘Vietnamese Soul through Brushstrokes’. The event is part of Hue Festival 2026.

From October 22 to 26, the first Vietnam Calligraphy Festival 2026, themed ‘Vietnamese Soul through Brushstrokes’, will take place in Co Mat Vien, No. 33 Tong Duy Tan St., Phu Xuan Ward. The event will feature a wide range of activities, including exhibitions, cultural exchanges and discussions, as well as hands-on calligraphy experiences.

On October 14 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Hue City People’s Committee signed an Action plan for cooperation on the development of culture, sports, and tourism through 2030. Hue City is the first locality to sign such a cooperation plan, aiming to tap into the potential and advantages of the city as a heritage city, a Festival City, and a distinctive cultural center of Vietnam.

On October 11th, Vietnam Publishers Association, in coordination with Hue City Youth Union and Quoc Hoc - Hue High School for the Gifted, organized a Reading Culture Festival for Youth Union members and young people, attracting 300 participants. The event was held ahead of the school's 130th anniversary and the 74th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnam's Publishing, Printing and Book Distribution Sector.

On the evening of October 8th, the Standing Board of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City launched the 2026 peak campaign month ‘For the Poor’. The event marked a meaningful effort ahead of the 96th anniversary of the founding of Vietnam National United Front (November 18th, 1930 - November 18th, 2026) and the Great National Unity Festival.

The final round and award ceremony of the 2026 Cultural and Arts Festival within Vietnam Fatherland Front system, themed ‘Song of Great National Unity’, was held on the afternoon of October 8th by the Standing Board of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City. Mr. Nguyen Chi Tai, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City, attended and provided guidance at the event.

On the evening of October 4th, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, held its traditional torch procession, white coat presentation, torch handover and scholarship awards for new students as part of the 2026 - 2027 academic year welcome festival with the theme of 'Passing the Torch of the White Coat'.
