Being well-known as the most beautiful and dangerous pass in Vietnam, Hai Van Pass is located on the border between Thua Thien Hue Province and Da Nang City.

Hai Van Gate is known as "world’s most majestic gate", located at an altitude of nearly 500m right at the top of Hai Van Pass. Once served as the military defense for the Hue Citadel, this defensive cluster was built under the Nguyen Dynasty in such a critical position to control the North-South road and Da Nang Bay.
