Smiles return to children with Thalassemia

After many years of sustaining their lives through regular blood transfusions, many pediatric patients suffering from congenital hemolytic anemia (Thalassemia) have now found the “light at the end of the tunnel” thanks to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation at Hue Central Hospital. From these successful transplant cases, a door of hope has opened, bringing the children a healthy, normal life and complete joy after so many difficult days.

On December 19, Hue Central Hospital held a discharge ceremony for the 3rd and 4th allogeneic bone marrow transplant patients with congenital hemolytic anemia, as well as the 40th neuroblastoma transplant patient.

On June 26, Prof. Michelle Hermiston from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF, USA) visited and collaborated with Hue Central Hospital to organize a training course on “Hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation in cancer, benign blood diseases and congenital immunodeficiency”.
