That is Gia Long Mausoleum (also known as Thien Tho Mausoleum), located in Huong Tho Commune (Hue City), which is around 15km to the Southeast of the city center.

In the work of managing, preserving, and promoting the values of the Complex of Hue Monuments, the force of managers and guardians (working for the Hue Monuments Conservation Center) is considered “the royal mausoleum guardians” in the modern age.

After having gone through 13 king reigns, the Nguyen Dynasty left to Hue heritage a huge volume of mausoleums and royal tombs, many of which bring unique historical, architectural, and cultural values such as Gia Long, Minh Mang, Tu Duc, and Khai Dinh royal tombs, etc. This is one of the factors helping Hue to be always attractive to tourists.

Porcelain mosaics on architectural constructions appeared in the 17th century and thrived in the Nguyen era when many important constructions such as Thai Hoa palace (the Palace of Supreme Harmony) and royal mausoleums were built, making them look more elegant and luxurious.
