Ask the people of Hue what flower they love most, and most will likely answer: the apricot blossom. To put it more formally, “hoang mai” - yellow apricot, without a doubt. Don’t believe it? Come to Hue and see for yourself! There’s a whole movement called “Yellow apricot blossom in front of the entrance”; a completed research project on “Conservation and development of Hue’s yellow apricot variety (Hue’s Hoang mai)”; a scientific conference on developing Hue’s Hoang mai into a key local product, aimed at successfully realizing the project to build Thua Thien Hue province (now Hue City) into Vietnam’s yellow apricot homeland. My friend, journalist Minh Tu, even published a book called “In front of the house stands a yellow apricot tree”, which sold out instantly, was reprinted, and translated into foreign languages to great acclaim.

Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tien, PhD., MD., (46 years old), Director of the Cardiovascular Center and Head of the Department of Internal Cardiology at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, has officially been awarded the title of the youngest professor in the medical field in 2025. For Professor Tien, being recognized as one of the youngest professors in medicine this year is a great honor; at the same time, this carries an even greater responsibility, as this milestone reminds him to continually maintain passion and dedication across all aspects of his work.

At the festival honoring the signature flower of the imperial land - Hue's Hoang Mai (yellow apricot blossom), hundreds of exquisite Hoang Mai masterpieces were showcased by artisans and gardeners to the public and visitors.

This message was conveyed to readers by Hoang Thi Tho, the author, at the launch of her two books titled “Ngay mai nho Hue ve tham Hue” (“Tomorrow, when you miss Hue, then come and visit Hue”) and “Xin di tu tho au” (“Travelling from the childhood”) (Thuan Hoa Publishing House), on the morning of June 23 at the headquarters of Thua Thien Hue Journalists Association (22B Le Loi Street, Hue City).

The collection of essays and notes "Truoc nha co cay hoang mai: Nhung ghi chep ve Hue - xu so phong reu kieu sa" after more than 8 years appearing in the literary world has now been reprinted, with additions and revisions. More notably, in this reprint, there is also an English edition “Yellow Apricot tree in the front yard: Fascinating stories about Hue - an ancient, poetic and glamorous land”.

Following on from the emotional flow of “Bringing the hearts of the mainland to Truong Sa” from a business trip to the Truong Sa archipelago and the platform DK1 in April, Hoang Dang Khoa has introduced precious and nostalgic photos of a vibrant green Truong Sa in the middle of the open sea.

Each person and family reminisce about old times when apricot color shone in front of the Citadel. The Yellow Apricot - Hoang Mai flower is a symbol of spring, family reunion, harmony between heaven and earth, and the nation. It has surpassed its value as a flower to become a symbol of the Ancient Capital.

After over 10 days taking place of the 2nd Hoang Mai Hue Festival 2024, on February 7, the festival officially closed with the closing ceremony and the awarding ceremony for the contest “Hoang Mai Hue – Spring Masterpiece”.
