Three member universities of Hue University rated four star

HNN.VN - A research team of Vietnam National University, Hanoi on August 18 announced the ranking and star rating results of the University Performance Metrics (UPM) for the first time on 30 universities in Vietnam, and ASEAN. Notably, three member universities of Hue University are rated four-star.

The star rating results under categories and indicators of the UPM rating system

According to the assessment results of the UPM for the first year on 30 universities in Vietnam and ASEAN, Hue University has three member universities belonging to the group of four-star research-oriented universities, including Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University of Sciences, and Hue University of Education. In addition, other universities in this group are Hanoi University of Education, Hanoi University of Pharmacy, Vinh University, Thuy Loi University, Hanoi University of Mining and Geology, University of Transport and Communications, Phenikaa University, Burapha University (Thailand), and Malang University (Indonesia).

Hue University of Economics is ranking in the three-star standard group, along with Thanh Do University, Nam Can Tho University, Tay Do University, Phan Thiet University, and Centro Escalar University (the Philippines).

The five-star standard universities include University of Science, and University of Engineering and Technology (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and Kasetsar University (Thailand).

In addition, a number of application-oriented universities also meet the four-star standard, including Foreign Trade University, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, Thu Dau Mot University, Quy Nhon University, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, and West Visayas University (the Philippines).

The ranking and star rating system, University Performance Metrics (UPM), is a work of the research team at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, which is led by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc, and sponsored by the National Educational Science Program chaired by the Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training

UPM evaluates the universities performance through 54 indicators across eight categories; each indicator has its own benchmark and weight, with an overall score of 1,000. Major categories include strategic governance (with the weight of 6 percent), education (35 percent), research (20 percent), innovation (11 percent), innovation ecosystem (6 percent), information technology infrastructure (10 percent), internationalization (6 percent), and community services (6 percent).

The actual scores for each indicator and category are ranked in the benchmark and rated ranging from one to five-star, providing the identification for the whole institution, being able to use to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of each activity and sector of higher education institutions.
