Paying tribute to Heroic Vietnamese Mothers and former female soldiers of the 11 Girls of the Huong River Squad

HNN.VN - On the occasion of the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2026), Hue City Women’s Union held a flower- and incense-offering ceremony on July 20 at the Memorial Stele to the women heroes of the 11 Girls of the Huong River Squad, and also visited and presented gifts to Heroic Vietnamese Mothers and the former female soldiers.

 The City Women’s Union offered flowers and incense at the Memorial Stele to the women heroes of the 11 Girls of the Huong River Squad

The delegation was led by Ms. Duong Thi Thu Thuy, Chairwoman of Hue City Women’s Union, and representatives from women’s union chapters at all levels across the city.

In a solemn atmosphere, the delegates respectfully offered flowers and incense, and observed a moment of silence to honor and pay tribute to the contributions and heroic sacrifices of the 11 female soldiers of the 11 Girls of the Huong River Squad.

On this occasion, the delegation visited two former female soldiers of the 11 Girls of the Huong River Squad, Mrs. Hoang Thi No and Mrs. Che Thi Mung. The delegation also visited and presented gifts to Heroic Vietnamese Mother Truong Thi Nghi (101 years old, Su Lo Thuong Village, Phu Ho Commune), and Heroic Vietnamese Mother Doan Thi Van (born in 1920, Son Tung Village, Dan Dien Commune).

At each visit, Ms. Duong Thi Thu Thuy warmly inquired about the health and living conditions of the Heroic Vietnamese Mothers and the former female soldiers, expressing deep gratitude for the tremendous contributions and sacrifices made by earlier generations in the struggle for national liberation and reunification.

The activity served as an occasion to educate revolutionary traditions and spread the spirit of “drinking water, remembering the source”, helping to inspire the pride and a sense of responsibility in today’s generation to preserve and promote the noble values cultivated by the fallen heroes, the Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, and the contributors to the revolutionary cause.
