More than 2,000 people gathered to cheer for the Olympia final

HNN.VN - On the morning of October 8th, the broadcast of the final round of the Road to Mount Olympia 2023 competition took place enthusiastically at the entrance of Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted. Attending the event were Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Phan Ngoc Tho, Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh, and over 2,000 students, teachers, and local residents who came to support Nguyen Minh Triet, a 12th-grade student majoring in Physics at Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted.

Nguyen Minh Triet, along with three other mountain climbers: Nguyen Viet Thanh (Soc Son High School, Hanoi), Le Xuan Manh (Ham Rong High School, Thanh Hoa province), and Nguyen Trong Thanh (Tran Phu High School, Hai Phong City), conquered the final challenge of the Road to Mount Olympia 2023.

The suspense and excitement lasted until the last moment, which was the shared feeling of many spectators after watching the starting, obstacle-crossing, acceleration, and finishing stages. In the final stage, it was the remarkable breakthrough of the contestants and Le Xuan Manh from Ham Rong High School, Thanh Hoa, who officially won the championship in the 23rd Olympia Road to Mount Olympia final.

Minh Triet was the last contestant to reach the finish line and chose a package of three questions worth 30 points. At the final question, an unprecedented event occurred: Minh Triet decided not to answer, giving the opportunity for the two contestants with high scores, Xuan Manh and Trong Thanh, to compete. He was quite moved to receive encouragement from teachers, friends, and expressed happiness in participating in the competition.

For Minh Triet, despite the slight lack of luck, he still made efforts and gave his best in the journey to acquire knowledge, with the encouragement and support of thousands of people in his hometown. Although he did not win the laurel wreath in the final, Minh Triet had excellent performances in the weekly, monthly, and quarterly rounds, helping Quoc Hoc High School set a record as the school with the most contestants reaching the final round of the "Road to Mount Olympia" for the 6th time. Minh Triet will always be a source of pride for the people of Hue. This is also his foundation to continue the journey of acquiring knowledge and striving for more success in the future.

Before that, five other outstanding faces from Quoc Hoc High School had left their marks on the minds of television viewers, including Nguyen Nguyen Thai Bao (in 2005), Nguyen Manh Tan (in 2008), Ho Ngoc Han (in 2009), Thai Ngoc Huy (in 2011), and Ho Dac Thanh Chuong (in 2016). Among them, Ho Ngoc Han and Ho Dac Thanh Chuong won the championship.

Besides the contestants' performances, an impressive aspect of the Road to Mount Olympia final program was the promotion of the image, people, traditions, studious culture, history of Thua Thien Hue, and other key sites on Vietnamese Television, leaving a deep impression on the audience.

Part 3: The land of Da lay and the people of Hue today

In Da Lay commune (Da Teh district, Lam Dong province), the new homeland of the people from Hue today, it is hard to recognize the traces of the hardships from nearly half a century ago. The most recognizable feature in this rural area that carries "Hue far away" is the distinctive Hue accent, the conical hats of the elderly women glistening as they shield their kind smiles, and the lively mornings with loc and nam cakes. We arrived at the Da Lay market in the Central Highlands and felt as if we were back in Hue, enjoying street food and chatting at a corner of Dong Ba or An Cuu markets…

Wandering singers of the village

Is there anyone now who still sits at the bridge singing lullabies or folk songs about their village? They sing by will just for fun to introduce their village and their pretty bridge full of love. Such a thing merely happens at the Thanh Toan tiled-roof bridge in Thuy Thanh District, Huong Thuy Town.
