HNN.VN - “Thuan Hoa is a local publishing house, but not merely a local one, as Hue is a long-established historical and cultural center of the country and is also the one being internationally recognized. Therefore, from the very beginning, the publishing house has strived to produce works worthy of the historic land of Thuan Hoa,” Dr. Nguyen Duy To, Director of Thuan Hoa Publishing House, quoted the late journalist Hoang Tung, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, when addressing the functions and development orientation of Thuan Hoa Publishing House at a friendly gathering marking its 45th anniversary (1981-2026), held on the morning of February 10.

Founded 45 years ago, Thuan Hoa Publishing House was officially established in Hue under decisions issued by the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the People’s Committee of Binh Tri Thien Province, the Central Propaganda Department, and the Ministry of Culture and Information. Its establishment at the time was a significant milestone in the province’s cultural and ideological sector, contributing to the dissemination of the Party’s and State’s guidelines and policies, while meeting the information, research, creative, and learning needs of researchers, authors, students, officials, and the public both locally and nationwide.

Thuan Hoa Publishing House is a comprehensive publisher within the system of local publishing houses. However, having been established and developed in the historic land of Hue Ancient Capital and Binh Tri Thien Province, it carries its own distinct characteristics.

From its early days, the publishing house received close attention from key provincial leaders at the time, including Mr. Bui San, Mr. Vu Thang, Mr. Nguyen Van Luong, and Mr. Tran Hoan… Musician Tran Hoan, along with Mr. Vuong Hong, and Mr. Le Trong Sam were the first leaders to lay the foundation for the publisher, serving respectively as Director - Editor-in-Chief and Deputy Director - Deputy Editor-in-Chief. Shortly after its establishment, a dedicated team committed to the publishing profession was formed, comprising educators, officers from the military and cultural sectors, and graduates of the first cohorts of Hue University.

Over 45 years of formation and development, Thuan Hoa Publishing House has delivered nearly 7,000 book titles and cultural publications to readers at home and abroad, including many works that have received national and local awards.

According Dr. Nguyen Duy To, these notable achievements are primarily attributed to the strong affection, support, and long-standing commitment of collaborators, social organizations, scientists, writers and artists, and managers to the land and people of Hue.

“Thuan Hoa Publishing House sincerely acknowledges the guidance and support it has received from its very first steps, from publishing plans to the release of individual titles and the provision of facilities for professional operations, from leaders of Binh Tri Thien Province, the former Thua Thien Hue Province, and today’s Hue City; from leaders of the Central Commission for Communication and Education, the Publishing Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Vietnam Publishers Association; as well as the dedicated assistance of provincial departments and agencies. In particular, the publishing house deeply honors the contributions of its leaders and staff across generations, including those who have passed away due to age and illness,” shared Mr. To.
