The 22nd Vietnam Film Festival in Hue: Ensuring the solemnity and safety

The press conference was connected online between two bridge points of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Provincial People's Committee, under the chair of Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong, and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh.

With the theme "Building Vietnamese movie industry with rich national identities, modernity and humanity", the 22nd Vietnam Film Festival will take place from November 18 to 20 in Hue.

Out of 141 films participating in the festival, the Organizing Committee has selected 128 films from 42 units, including 26 feature films, 56 documentaries, 15 scientific films and 31 animated films. The cinematographic works are rich in genres, themes and forms of expression, aiming towards building Vietnamese movie industry with rich national identities, modernity and humanity.

This is the first time the Vietnam Film Festival is organized in a hybrid form (online combined with offline), with limited guests of about 500 delegates, including 300 delegates from other provinces.

The main events include the contest film screening program, the panoramic program, the press conference combined with the opening ceremony, and the announcement and award ceremony. Side events taking place in Hue include the Film week to welcome the film festival, the exhibition on "Thua Thien Hue, destination of filmmakers", the photo exhibition on "Safe destination initiative - Hue and you", and the programs of Ao Dai fashion show and cinematography, and community Ao Dai, etc.

In the context of the complicated COVID-19 pandemic, the Organizing Committee has been carefully considering the work of ensuring the safety of pandemic prevention and control. The film festival's activities are shortened but still maintain its solemnity and safety.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh said that the film festival was identified as an opportunity to promote the image, and recover the cultural and tourism activities. The province has carefully considered and offered various options to proactively and appropriately respond to the pandemic’s development.
