Seminar on "French - Vietnamese Relations: Kindling the Arts and Culture of the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries”

At the seminar, the book “Souvenir of Hue Citadel in the early 19th century” was introduced to readers in Hue

With the participation of speakers: Le Duc Quang, translator, Tran Dinh Hang, researcher, and Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung, the seminar attracted the attention of researchers and lovers of Hue culture.

The speakers shared many interesting facts and stories of Hue from the time of Lord Nguyen Hoang, the reforms of the country under the reign of Martial Lord Nguyen Phuc Khoat to the bold cultural imprints formed by the Nguyen kings, and the Franco-Vietnamese assimilation in culture, education ...

The researchers also affirmed that the specific imprints of Hue culture remain valid to this day, from the way of educating children to the manners and personality of Hue people ... These differences need be preserved so that Hue culture is always fostered and promoted.

Many opinions also called on everyone to join in building "Hue bookcase" to introduce and promote Hue culture and develop the reading culture.

On this occasion, the National Institute of Culture and Arts in Hue introduced to readers the book “Souvenir of Hue Citadel in the early 19th century” through the memoirs of Michel Duc Chaigneau, translated and annotated by the translator Le Duc Quang, which has been released earlier in Hanoi. The book records memories of the appearance of ancient Hue and its surroundings, with the entire life from the royal palace to the normal village.

The program also organized auction of Truc chi version of "Souvenirs of the Hue Citadel in the early 19th century". The entire auction price of 32 million was used to support the Hue Cultural Fund.

That is the topic of the 2024 LSCAC International Scientific Conference - “Language, Society, and Culture in the Asian Context”, which takes place from November 22 to 24 in Hue. This event is held by Hue College in collaboration with Malang National University (Indonesia), Hyderabad University (India), University of Mahasarakham (Thailand), the Institute of Cultural Anthropology (Hanoi), and the Northeast Institute for Cultural and Arts Research (Thailand).
