On the afternoon of May 25th, Hue City People’s Committee held a working session with the Vietnam Cinema Association regarding the proposal to host and coordinate the organization of the 2026 Golden Kite Awards.
Attending the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Khac Toan, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee; Mr. Do Lenh Hung Tu, Chairman of the Vietnam Cinema Association; and representatives from related departments, sectors, and agencies.
At the meeting, according to the proposal from the Vietnam Cinema Association, the 2026 Golden Kite Week is expected to be organized in Hue City with a wide range of cultural, artistic, and cinematic activities. Film screenings, exchanges, and seminars are planned to take place at cinemas, universities, cultural centers, and several public venues throughout the city.
Within the framework of Golden Kite Week 2026, a series of special events is expected to honor Vietnamese cinema and promote local culture and tourism. Activities are set to include: the opening ceremony of Vietnam Golden Kite Week and performances of movie soundtracks participating in the 2026 Golden Kite Awards; a cinema forum themed “Brand names Accompanying Cinema”; community film screenings and interactions with film crews; the Golden Kite 2026 Gala Dinner combined with the promotion of Hue royal cuisine; the 2026 Golden Kite Awards Ceremony; and tourism promotion activities for Hue City.

Speaking at the session, Chairman Nguyen Khac Toan acknowledged and highly appreciated the Vietnam Cinema Association’s interest in Hue through its proposal for Hue to coordinate the organization of the 2026 Golden Kite Awards.
Chairman Nguyen Khac Toan stated that the Golden Kite Awards are among the most prestigious professional awards in Vietnamese cinema, carrying important significance in honoring artists and filmmakers with outstanding contributions, while also encouraging creativity, enhancing artistic quality, and promoting the development of the national film industry.
Based on this spirit, the leaders of Hue City People’s Committee agreed in principle and committed to accompanying, supporting, and creating favorable conditions for coordinating the organization of the 2026 Golden Kite Awards in Hue. The city will direct relevant departments, sectors, and agencies to closely coordinate with the Vietnam Cinema Association in surveying, planning, determining schedules, venues, and major activities. At the same time, the city will provide support in infrastructure, facilities, security, communications, and other necessary conditions to ensure the event is organized in a solemn, distinctive, safe, and effective manner.
Chairman Nguyen Khac Toan also expressed his hope that through the 2026 Golden Kite Awards, Hue would have further opportunities to tell stories about its heritage, culture, people, gentle lifestyle, hospitality, and rich identity through the language of cinema.
