Opening "Hue Kite Festival 2019"

HNN.VN - On the morning of June 8, the Department of Tourism, in cooperation with departments and agencies in Hue city, organized Hue Kite Festival 2019. This is a highlight in the series of festivals and events associated with tourism taking place in 2019 of Thua Thien Hue province.

The festival is organized to affirm the title of Hue – the Festival City of Vietnam and to step by step build the image of Hue - the capital of festivals, turning the cultural brand into a well-known brand to attract tourists.

The festival has a number of traditional and contemporary activities to attract tourists to Hue; thereby, increasing the length of stay and increasing visitors' spending when visiting Hue. This creates opportunities for tourism service businesses to introduce their products as well as link economic sectors to participate in creating common tourism products for the province.

In the framework of the festival, there are activities such as art kite exhibition; making kites and decorating kites for children at Tu Tuong Park; art program and Hue ao dai fashion show at 8:00 p.m. on June 8, at Tu Tuong Park; art kite performance, from 16:00 on June 8 and 9 in Ngo Mon Square.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Dung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his wish that Hue Kite Festival 2019 will contribute positively to the preservation of the traditional art of making and flying kites in Hue. He hoped that the festival will promote kite art, a form of art which is very characteristic of the ancient capital. Through this festival and Hue Traditional Craft Festival, Hue kites continue to be honored in the community, becoming an impressive and memorable image among tourists when they come to Hue and always appearing in cultural events of the province and the country.

After the opening ceremony, the public and visitors enjoyed the unique, artistic kites of diverse types made by Hue kite artists. Children of the Cultural Center for Children in Hue participated in the kite drawing program. They were able to create unique drawings and express their rich imagination. These kites will be on display at Tu Tuong Park when they are completed.
