Fish Worshipping Festival and kicking off Southern fishing season ceremony

HNN.VN - On the morning of February 2, a traditional Cau Ngu (fish worshipping) festival and a ceremony to kick off the Southern fishing season in 2023 were held at Thai Duong communal house, People’s Committee of Thuan An Ward, Hue City.

The cultural village of Thai Duong, Thuan An Ward is one of the 19 villages of Vinh Tri Canton, Kim Tra District, Trieu Phong Prefect, Thuan Hoa land. According to tradition, every three years, local people organize the traditional fish worshipping festival to wish for favorable weather and a prosperous business year for everybody.

Right after the traditional fish worshipping festival, ordered from the mainland, around over 30 large-capacity fishing boats docking in front of Thai Duong communal house started up to the open sea to mark the first fishing day of the new year.

According to the leaders of Thuan An Ward, in 2023, the ward set the goal to meet the aquatic resource exploitation target of over 37.000 tons.

In the framework of the fish praying festival, the locality held various practical activities such as traditional fish praying music performances and boat racing festival on Tam Giang Lagoon to create a fund and bustling atmosphere for locals on the occasion of the new year.
