Mr. Phan Quy Phuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (center) congratulating the four individuals with the title of “Artisan of Thua Thien Hue”
Accordingly, four individuals, namely Dang Viet Bao, the craft of Hue ao dai and fabric making technique for Hue ao dai (Kim Long Ward, Hue City); Do Huu Triet, the craft of phap lam (Gia Hoi Ward, Hue City); Le Van Truc, the craft of art carpentry in Hue ruong house (Phong Hoa Commune, Phong Dien District); and Truong Huu Viet, the craft of traditional musical instrument of guitar and Hue Royal musical instruments (Dong Ba Ward, Hue City), were honored with the title of “Artisan of Thua Thien Hue” by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee in 2022 in the field of handicrafts under Decision No. 2371/QD-UBND dated September 30, 2022.
In term of voting for typical rural industrial products, Thua Thien Hue Province had held six rounds of voting at district and provincial levels; and participated in six polls at the Central and Central Highland regional level, and four national polls organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. At the result, 63 products of 63 establishments were awarded certificates of regional polls; and 18 rural industrial establishments had products selected by the local Department of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Industry and Trade as typical rural industrial products in the Central and Central Highland regions in 2022.
As praising and congratulating the artisans and rural industrial establishments, Mr. Phan Quy Phuong said that Thua Thien Hue was striving to become a centrally-managed municipality on the basis of preserving and promoting the values of the Ancient Capital and the cultural identity of Hue. One of the resources contributing to this goal is the artisans of Thua Thien Hue, as well as the typical rural industrial establishments.
“In the coming time, artisans, rural industrial establishments, departments and branches, localities and craft associations should continue to devote their efforts, contributing to the development of traditional handicrafts in the province; being enthusiastic and dedicated to the crafts; as well as actively teaching and imparting the craft skills, and participating in handicraft product contests. Rural industrial establishments must actively focus on investing in the innovation of technology and equipment, increasing the production development capacity; seeking for markets; building brand names, innovating models, training human resources, etc.,” suggested Mr. Phan Quy Phuong.
According to Mr. Phan Quy Phuong, in the coming time, Hue Artisans Club and craft associations should continue to promote their roles and positions, where artisans can exchange, learn, cooperate, share experiences in production and business; creating a connection among generations of artisans, thereby devoting their efforts and contributing to the development of traditional crafts in the province.
Up to now, three out of the total 21 individuals nationwide, who have been honored with the title of "People's Artisan" by the President, are from Thua Thien Hue Province; and 12 out of the total 156 individuals nationwide receiving the title of "Meritorious Artisan" are also from the province.
