| Visitors experienced an electric boat ride on the river |
For those who have visited Hue many times before, this journey offers an interesting experience. From the Imperial Citadel, visitors travel by sightseeing bus to Phung Hung pier, then transfer to an electric boat to continue the journey along the river.
In the opposite direction, visitors from the Huong River area can board the boat at Toa Kham Pier, Chuong Duong Pier, or the Nguyen Hoang bus station area, travel to Phung Hung Pier, and then continue traveling by sightseeing bus to the Imperial Citadel.
On the inaugural journey, many visitors expressed their excitement. “I have been to Hue many times, but this is the first time I have traveled by electric boat. I find that the scenery along both sides of the river has become more beautiful, with greater investment,” said Mr. Vu Ngoc Hoang, a visitor from Hanoi.
For Ms. Tran Thi Kim Thanh, also from Hanoi, the quietness of the boat left the strongest impression. “This is the first time I have experienced this boat. It is very smooth; I can barely hear the engine, just the sound of the water,” she said.

According to Mr. Phan Viet Trung, Director of Phuong Hoang Phuong Dong Joint Stock Company (FENIKO), the company that developed the product, while traveling by road allows visitors to approach buildings, streets, and attractions directly, traveling on the water offers an opportunity to view the landscape from a different distance.
He said that the goal is not simply to add another river journey, but to connect spaces that visitors have typically experienced separately.
Hue City is currently facing the need to diversify its tourism products. Waterway tourism offers a distinct advantage, as it does not require the creation of an entirely new destination. The use of electric boats also aligns the product with Hue’s orientation toward developing green transportation.
The electric boat route connecting the Imperial Citadel - Ngu Ha - Dong Ba - the Huong River is expected to provide visitors with an additional option, while offering new ways to explore the waterway system of the Imperial City.
