Delegates and Hue residents participate in the flag-salute ceremony at the city’s event venue

The 2026 ‘Together With Vietnam, Moving Forward’ program, organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Security, was held to mark the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Day (September 2), and the Traditional Day of the People’s Republic of Security Force. At Hue venue, the event was jointly organized by the Department of Culture and Sports, Hue City Police, and the bureau of Nhan Dan Newspaper in Hue, drawing a large crowd and creating an upbeat atmosphere from early morning.

At 6:00 a.m., more than 4,500 delegates and residents in Hue joined the live broadcast of the flag-raising ceremony with people across 34 provinces, cities, and special administrative areas nationwide and sang the national anthem in unison. The solemn moment underscored the strength of national solidarity and the patriotic pride shared by millions of Vietnamese people.

Following the flag-salute ceremony, participants in red shirts featuring the national flag set off along Ha Huy Tap, Bui San, Ly Tu Trong and To Huu streets, with the route ending at the lobby of the City Sports Arena.

Carrying the message “10 Billion Green Steps - For a Sustainable Vietnam,” the event went beyond encouraging people to exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle, it highlighted three key goals: Strengthening national solidarity; Working toward a Guinness World Record for National Community Engagement; and Promoting a green lifestyle in pursuit of Net Zero by encouraging the habit of walking and using environmentally friendly transportation, thereby raising public awareness of emissions reduction and environmental protection.

According to the organizing committee, every step taken by participants was recorded on the cungvietnamtienbuoc.nhandan.vn portal, contributing directly to the program’s goal of reaching 10 billion green steps. Notably, under Vietcombank’s step-doubling mechanism, every step contributed by participants was counted twice, further supporting the ‘Moving Forward with Children’ program, which aims to help disadvantaged students start the 2026-2027 school year confidently.

Over the two-day event in Hue on August 29 and 30, the organizing committee hosted a range of activities promoting green living, cultural and sports exchanges, and environmental protection.

“Beyond the three key goals, as for Hue - the city taking the lead in environmental protection, we also want to send a message that: We call on every resident of the Former Imperial Citadel, from mountainous areas to the plains, to continue joining hands and contributing to building up a more beautiful and prosperous Hue City,” said Mr. Le Minh Nhan, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports.
