Service sector continues to serve as the main growth driver

According to a report presented by the Department of Finance, Hue City's socio-economic situation has maintained a positive recovery momentum. The city's GRDP growth rate in the first 6 months of 2026 is estimated at 9 - 9.5%, laying an important foundation for achieving the city's growth target of over 10% in 2026.

Mr. Le Van Cuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Finance, stated that the service sector continued to be the key driver of economic growth, with an estimated growth rate of 9.2 - 9.7%, accounting for approximately 51.2% of the city's GRDP structure. Tourism activities experienced strong growth thanks to cultural and festival programs under Hue Festival 2026, along with the successful organization of numerous large-scale events.

The industry and construction sector is estimated to have grown by 9.5 - 10.5%, contributing about 31.9% of GRDP. The Industrial Production Index (IIP) increased by 10.3%, with the processing and manufacturing industry rising by 13.4%, continuing to serve as the primary growth engine.

Currently, economic zones and industrial parks across the city host 201 active projects with a total registered investment capital exceeding 152 trillion VND, including 56 FDI projects with total capital of approximately 76.4 trillion VND.

The agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector has also maintained positive growth momentum, with an estimated increase of 4.5%, significantly higher than the same period last year.

Total social investment capital reached approximately 17,369 billion VND, up 13.2% year-on-year. The city licensed 31 new projects with total registered capital exceeding 19,232 billion VND, including 4 FDI projects with total registered capital of 125.6 million USD.

Focusing on solutions to achieve double-digit growth

At the meeting, departments, sectors, and localities analyzed existing difficulties and obstacles while proposing solutions to achieve the city's 2026 growth target.

Among the difficulties analyzed, sluggish market consumption has led to declining output in some industrial products. To ensure growth targets are met, the industry and trade sector will coordinate efforts to accelerate the launch of battery manufacturing plants, helmet production facilities, and several new industrial projects;…

In his concluding remarks, Mr. Nguyen Khac Toan emphasized that the key task for the remaining 6 months of the year is to synchronously and decisively implement socio-economic development solutions, striving to achieve a GRDP growth rate of 10% or higher in 2026.

Mr. Nguyen Khac Toan requested that departments, sectors, and localities continue to closely follow resolutions and conclusions issued by the Central Committee, the City Party Committee, the City People's Council, and the City's People's Committee work program. He also called for faster completion of planning frameworks, special mechanisms, and policies to create new development opportunities and growth momentum.
