| Presenting practical gifts to fishermen |
At the event, participating units disseminated information on Vietnam Border Guard Law, the Law on Fisheries, the Law of the Sea of Vietnam, and regulations related to legal fishing activities and the fight against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing. They also provided information on protecting national maritime and island sovereignty, maritime safety regulations, disaster prevention, and search and rescue operations at sea. Fishermen were encouraged to actively provide information and cooperate with relevant authorities in safeguarding sovereignty and maintaining security in Vietnam’s maritime areas.
The program also presented 34 practical gift packages to fishermen and fishing vessels facing difficult circumstances. These included: national flags to be flown on fishing boats while operating at sea, medical cabinets and first-aid supplies for fishermen’s healthcare needs, blankets, life jackets, and other essential items, with a total value of more than 50 million VND. On this occasion, the organizers also promoted and encouraged organizations and individuals to provide long-term support for programs benefiting fishermen.
This activity aimed to raise awareness among officials, union members, association members, and local residents, particularly fishermen, about the position, role, and importance of Vietnam’s seas and islands, as well as citizens’ responsibility in protecting the sacred maritime and island sovereignty of the nation. It also sought to encourage and motivate fishermen to confidently venture offshore, remain at sea, and engage in legal fishing activities; strengthen solidarity and close ties between border guard forces and residents in coastal border areas; and enhance the role of the Fatherland Front in mobilizing public participation in safeguarding maritime sovereignty and border security.
