At the meeting, leaders of Hue City People's Committee provided an overview of the city's socio-economic development, particularly its notable achievements in preserving and promoting cultural heritage values. Home to a rich heritage treasure trove, including eight UNESCO-recognized heritage designations, Hue has identified heritage preservation not only as a mission to safeguard historical and cultural values but also as an important driver of tourism, cultural industries, and sustainable economic growth.
In recent years, Hue has implemented a wide range of coordinated measures to effectively preserve and promote its heritage assets. Restoration and conservation work has received significant attention, supported by substantial investment from both the state budget and socialized funding sources. Major projects such as Thai Hoa Palace, Kien Trung Palace, Emperor Gia Long’s Mausoleum, and Hai Van Frontier Post have been restored, contributing to the enhanced value of the Complex of Hue Monuments.
At the same time, the city has actively developed distinctive tourism products associated with heritage spaces while expanding the organization of festival activities, artistic activities, and the four-season Hue Festival model. These efforts have gradually transformed heritage into a valuable economic resource. Cultural and tourism brands such as “Vietnam’s Characteristic Festival City”, “Hue - The Capital of Ao Dai”, and “Hue - The Culinary Capital” have continued to be strengthened and expanded.
Notably, Hue is among the leading localities in Vietnam in applying digital technology to culture and tourism. Heritage digitization initiatives, the development of a smart tourism ecosystem, integrated electronic ticketing systems, and virtual reality applications have enhanced visitor experiences while generating additional resources for conservation efforts.
According to reports presented at the meeting, during the first six months of 2026, Hue welcomed more than 4,3 million visitors, an increase of 30% compared to the same period last year. Tourism revenue was estimated at 10.3 trillion VND. The Complex of Hue Monuments alone received more than 1,66 million visitors during the period, generating over 242 billion VND in admission fee revenue.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Tran Huu Thuy Giang emphasized that Hue consistently regards cultural heritage as a vital endogenous resource for development. The city remains committed to a strategy of rapid growth based on a knowledge economy and sustainable development founded on culture, while maintaining a balance between preservation and development, and between safeguarding identity and embracing integration and innovation.
Leaders of the two localities exchanged views on a range of topics, including monument management mechanisms, mobilizing social resources for conservation, developing cultural industries, creating distinctive tourism products, applying digital transformation in culture and tourism, and effectively leveraging heritage values to support socio-economic development.
On behalf of the delegation, Vice Chairwoman Vuong Ngoc Ha stated that Hue’s practical experience would serve as an important reference for Tuyen Quang to research and develop appropriate approaches to preserving cultural values and promoting tourism and cultural industries in the province.
