After about 2 - 3 years, many Edwards's pheasants will be brought to Phong Dien Nature Reserve

According to Mr. Le Van Huong, upon arriving in Vietnam, the pheasants were received, quarantined, and underwent initial health monitoring at qualified captive breeding centers in accordance with professional procedures.

Following the quarantine and stabilization period, the pheasants will be transferred to the Central region for further care and conservation breeding under the procedures and standards of the IUCN.

According to the plan, after around 2 - 3 years of care, monitoring, adaptation assessment, and breeding, the offspring will be brought to Phong Dien Nature Reserve and several other forest areas for soft release into a semi-natural environment. Once the individuals adapt well to the habitat conditions and demonstrate survival capabilities in the wild, experts will proceed with hard-release and continue long-term monitoring to gradually restore the species’ population in nature.

The program’s goal is not only to receive and care for the pheasants, but also to establish a long-term conservation population and serve the restoration of the species in the wild.
