| Educating digital citizenship skills for primary students |
In an era of rapid digital advancement, digital citizenship skill education for students has become a widespread global trend. Equipping primary school pupils with foundational skills for the safe and responsible use of technology and media not only helps them avoid risks and dangers in online environment but also contributes to the development of critical thinking, creativity, and the ability to adapt to the demands of the digital age.
At the conference, administrators were equipped with key content areas, including the integration of digital citizenship skills education into the primary school curriculum; teaching methods and approaches to teaching organization tailored to the psychological and cognitive characteristics of primary students; as well as hands-on practice, discussions, and the clarification of challenges and issues arising during implementation at school.
The presenters also analyzed and clarified the content of digital citizenship skills education across primary-level subjects, emphasizing the alignment of subject curricula with the digital competence framework. On this basis, administrators were guided in developing lesson plans integrated with digital citizenship education that ensure scientific rigor, flexibility, and feasibility, while also engaging in hands-on practice to integrate digital citizenship content as defined by the digital competence framework.
For the subject of Information Technology, the training placed particular emphasis on its core role in shaping and developing students’ digital competencies.
The Department of Education and Training requested that educational institutions proactively organize follow-up training at the school level after the conclusion of the city-level training program. The rollout of training at each unit must be completed before January 20, 2026, serving as a foundation for the synchronized and effective integration of digital citizenship skills education into teaching and learning across primary schools.
