Competition begins after the opening ceremony

The championship brings together nearly 200 male and female athletes from 7 teams representing provinces, cities, and sectors across the country, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Nghe An, Dong Nai, Vinh Long, Bac Ninh, and Hue City. Athletes are competing in the following categories: Men’s Team of Four, Men’s Team of Three, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Team of Four, Women’s Team of Three, and Women’s Doubles.

Mr. Bui Thanh Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture & Sports said that the tournament is an opportunity for national team athletes to gain experience and improve their skills, as well as for evaluating athlete training programs, thereby selecting outstanding players to strengthen the national team and compete in regional and international tournaments.

Hue sepak takraw is still relatively young compared to many other provinces and cities, having only been established in 2021, with a rather limited pool of athletes. Nevertheless, recent notable achievements and the registration to compete in all six events of this championship reflect the determination and ambition of Hue’s sepak takraw community.

With a relatively balanced roster of male and female players, Hue’s sepak takraw team is expected to achieve strong results in the Men’s Team of Three, Men’s Doubles, and Women’s Team of Four categories.

The championship ends on September 17th.
