The event brought together over 300 athletes with disabilities from 9 provinces and cities, including: Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho City, Da Nang City, Dong Nai, Dong Thap, Hanoi City, Ha Tinh, Thai Nguyen, and Hue City. Athletes competed in 5 sports: swimming, archery, chess, Judo, and Boccia (a game similar to bowling).
The team of athletes with disabilities from Hue City has 6 athletes competing in chess and swimming. After several days of competition, all of athletes from Hue won medals, including 1 gold medal and 6 bronze medals. The gold medal in swimming was won by Nguyen Thai Duong from Phu Bai Ward.
In addition to the mentioned 7 medals, 3 athletes from Hue City’s team were also awarded Commemorative Medals for their significant contributions to the sport of chess.
Besides serving as a selection event for outstanding athletes to compete in the upcoming ASEAN Para Games 2025 in Thailand, the National Sports Championship for the Disabled also serve as a playground that encourages people with disabilities to exercise, confidently affirm their own values, and spread the inspiration of positive living with the message “Sports for all - No one left behind”.
