In his opening speech, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Xuan, MD, PhD, Deputy Director of Hue Central Hospital, emphasized the hospital’s strong focus on advancing high-level medical technologies, particularly in key areas such as heart transplantation, interventional cardiology, and arrhythmia treatment. According to Dr. Xuan, the workshop was an opportunity for doctors to update their knowledge and also demonstrated the hospital’s pioneering role in specialized training and technology transfer.

The workshop centered on radiofrequency (RF) ablation techniques for treating cardiac arrhythmias, which is considered one of the most modern and highly effective methods for managing complex arrhythmias.

Dr. Ho Anh Binh, MD, PhD, Director of the Cardiovascular Center and Vice President of the Vietnam Society of Interventional Cardiology, shared that alongside cutting-edge technologies like IVUS, Rotablator, and stent graft placement, the field of arrhythmia treatment at Hue Central Hospital has made significant strides with methods such as conduction system pacing, electrophysiological studies, and RF ablation.

Presiding over the workshop, Dr. Pham Nhu Hung, MD, PhD, Deputy Director of Hanoi Heart Hospital, remarked: “The application of advanced technologies such as 3D mapping, cryoablation, and pulsed field ablation (PFA) in the treatment of atrial fibrillation and arrhythmias is progressing rapidly in Vietnam. With the current capabilities, major centers like Hue, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City are fully capable of working together to elevate the field of interventional cardiology in Vietnam to new heights.”

Taking place over two days, August 2 and 3, this workshop was especially notable for its live clinical demonstrations of complex arrhythmia ablation using RF (radiofrequency) waves. The cases included atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT), Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome, and right ventricular outflow tract tachycardia.

These interventions were performed live under the direct guidance of leading experts, providing local medical staff with valuable hands-on learning and practical experience.

Dr. Hoang Van Quy, MD (Specialist Level II), Deputy Head of the Interventional Cardiac Emergency Department and Vice President of the Vietnam Heart Rhythm Society, stated that the number of patients admitted to Hue Central Hospital for arrhythmia treatment has increased significantly in recent times. This trend reflects not only a growing demand for treatment but also the rising reputation and clinical effectiveness of the hospital’s Cardiovascular Center being affirmed.

The workshop welcomed the participation of doctors and specialists from hospitals across the country, along with a large number of physicians, nurses, and technicians from Hue Central Hospital (both Base 1 and Base 2) and Hue Central International Hospital.
