Mr. Tamoto Norihide, Policy Advisor on Drainage, JICA expert at the Ministry of Construction sharing his experiences |
The conference was organized with various main contents, including sharing the survey results, identifying key issues and challenges in drainage and wastewater treatment in Hue City; proposing feasible solutions for the next phase, based on survey results and practical analysis; and consulting on some advanced models from Japan to effectively apply in practice in Hue.
Addressing the conference, Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Hoang Hai Minh stated that with the participation of experts, policymakers, and representatives from management agencies, the conference provided valuable insights and opinions that would help the city develop appropriate policies and solutions to improve the system of drainage and wastewater treatment, heading towards green, clean, and sustainable development.
Hue City desired that the city will continue receiving support from the Japanese Government, JICA, experts, and international organizations, not only in terms of financial resources but also in technology, technical expertise, and management experience. This support will help Hue improve its infrastructure system, while striving towards the goal of becoming a green, smart, and sustainable heritage city.
It is known that since November 2024, Hue City Institute for Development Studies has collaborated with the Drainage Policy Advisor and JICA expert at the Ministry of Construction to conduct the research “Survey to identify issues and solutions for drainage in Thua Thien Hue Province” (now Hue City). This is part of the program “Drainage and wastewater treatment policy advisory”, funded by the Japanese Government through non-refundable aid and approved by the Ministry of Construction under Decision No. 1056/QD-BXD on October 6, 2023.
The goal of this research is to assess the current status of the drainage and wastewater treatment system in Hue, and from there, propose cooperation programs and specific solutions to improve the management and operation efficiency of the system. This conference serves as an important forum to analyze, evaluate, and provide practical recommendations for wastewater treatment in the city, etc.
