HNN.VN - From March 1 to 3, a merged humanitarian medical team from the Sathya Sai International Organisations (SSIO) and Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy (HUMP) deployed their medical camp in the mountainous district of A Luoi, the land of many ethnic minority groups of Vietnam.

In the 3 days in A Ngo commune, A Luoi Township and Son Thuy commune respectively, 40 doctors, dentists and volunteers dedicated their love and care to about 700 local people. The patients were examined, treated, given dental extraction and care, and provided with free medicines and vitamins. For some special cases, further tests and life-changing surgeries were also sponsored.

The medical camp was also a valuable chance for friendship building and cultural exchange amongst the SSIO team members, who are mainly Malaysian and Singaporean, and the local people.

This is the third time Thua Thien Hue receives the medical team from SSIO, via the facilitation and collaboration by Thua Thien Hue Union of Friendship Organisation (HueFO), a focal point for non-govermental aid mobilisation of the province.

The SSIO is a free, non-denominational voluntary organisation based in 126 countries. In 2016, a branch of the organisation in Singapore donated the building of the clinic of Huong Van commune in Huong Tra township.
