Specifically, in the shortlist for Asia’s Leading Culture City Destination, Hue is listed alongside globally renowned cultural cities such as Beijing (China), San Fernando, Pampanga (Philippines), Delhi (India), Kyoto (Japan), and Seoul (South Korea). This is a notable recognition, opening up an opportunity for Hue Ancient Capital to further affirm its position on the global cultural tourism map.

Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards has been widely regarded as one of the most prestigious award systems in the global travel and tourism industry. It is often referred to as the “Oscar of the global tourism industry”. Being nominated is a significant recognition, providing Hue with a valuable platform to reach millions of tourists and tourism investors worldwide.

According to the city’s tourism sector, this is not the first time Hue has been recognized by the World Travel Awards. Specifically, the city was previously nominated in the Asia’s Leading Culture City Destination 2023 and continued to be named in the same category at the WTA 2024.

In addition, Hue has secured several other nominations in 2026; in which, Azerai La Residence is nominated for Vietnam’s Leading Boutique Hotel, while Meliã Vinpearl is named for Vietnam’s Leading City Hotel, Angsana Lang Co for Vietnam’s Leading Family Resort, and Banyan Tree Lang Co is nominated for Vietnam’s Leading Luxury Resort.

The online voting round is now underway and will remain open until August 7, 2026. Locals, visitors, and relevant stakeholders are invited to vote at https://www.worldtravelawards.com/vote-r4. Beyond a support for Hue, each vote cast also contributes to promoting Vietnam’s cultural heritage images to audiences around the world.
