Hue City wins ASEAN Clean Tourist Award 2020

TTH.VN - Hue City, Vung Tau City and Quy Nhon City were honored to receive ASEAN Clean Tourist Awards 2020 at ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2020.

The award was presented in Brunei within the framework of the ATF 2020 on January 16.

ASEAN Clean Tourist Award is a noble award of ASEAN, contributing to honor and develop the brand names of cities, which have high quality tourism services in the region.

To be recognized as an "ASEAN Clean Tourist City", the cities must ensure seven criteria including common environmental management; clean streets; good management of waste and wastewater; authorities and communities are aware of environmental protection and keeping their streets clean; lots of green space; good conditions to ensure health safety, and urban security for visitors; as well as suitable and standard infrastructure and facilities for tourism, etc.

On the morning of January 1, Hue City Department of Tourism in collaboration with the Central Region Airport Authority at Phu Bai International Airport, Phu Bai International Airport, and the Vietnam Airlines branch in Hue, along with Pacific Airlines organized a program to welcome the first flight and visitors to Hue City in 2025. Attending the event was Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Standing member of the City Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee.

On November 30, the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 175/2024/QH15 regarding the establishment of Hue City as a centrally governed municipality (NQ175). Simultaneously, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly issued Resolution 1314/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of district- and commune-level administrative units in Hue City for the 2023–2025 period (NQ 1314). These resolutions will take effect on January 1, 2025.
