On the first day of the new year, a ceremony to announce the National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025 was held at Ngo Mon Square by the People’s Committee of Hue City.

The Ban Soc (Calendar Distribution) Ceremony of the Nguyen Dynasty marks the commencement of Hue Festival 2024, portrayed through a staged performance that revives ancient rituals and customs.

In September 1969, upon hearing the news of Uncle Ho's death, people of all ethnic groups here set up an altar for Uncle Ho and voluntarily changed their surname to Ho to show their respect to Uncle Ho. More than 50 years since he passed away, that sentiment is still very deep in the minds of the people here.

In the past, at the end of each lunar year, the Nguyen Dynasty would hold the Ban Soc ceremony (also known as the Calendar Distribution ceremony) to issue the new calendar to the people.
