These works are also accompanied by the songwriter’s autographs recording the lyrics of his famous songs. When printed on the calendars, each work will bear its own style but it is designed in accordance with the poetic, meditative of the talented songwriter.
This idea was germinated in the mind of Nguyen Trong Chuc, a journalist, and Nguyen Duy, a poet, in their visit to the home of the late songwriter in Ho Chi Minh city. After that, the project was implemented by Nguyen Duy Son, a graphic artist – the son of Nguyen Duy before his sudden death in last April. In the collection, many paintings of Trinh Cong Son have been published for the first time.
According to the family representative, when he was alive, the songwriter drew many paintings, and he also took part in some exhibitions with his friends. However, many of the works have not been published; and, this occasion is a chance for people to enjoy the works. While composing, Trinh Cong Son used various materials such as watercolors, chalks, oil painting, etc. He followed the simplified style on strokes and left only the light trails of colors on the fabrics.
It is expected that around 6.000 calendars printed with Trinh Cong Son’s paintings will be issued in the coming Tet holiday. The late songwriter’s family will present the calendars as the gifts to their friends and sponsors so that it can be used in activities with social and charitable significance.
