Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy welcomes 1.825 freshmen

HNN.VN - On October 7, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy held an opening ceremony for the new academic year 2024 – 2025.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Professor Dr. Nguyen Vu Quoc Huy, Rector of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy informed that, over time, with the cooperation and technical support from Harvard Medical School, the United States, the university has successfully updated its health science training programs. These new programs are integrated and competency-based, aligning with the international medical education standards for the faculties of Medicine and Odonto - Stomatology. By the end of the first class and graduation in July, 2024, together with 8 other fields of the university, 1.213 students graduated, while the university has received job recruitment requests for up to 2.063 students.

In the academic year 2023 – 2024, many groups and individuals from the university have been awarded various commendations and awards by the Party, the Government, the Ministries, Departments, and Thua Thien Hue province.

In the academic year 2024 – 2025, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy enrolls 1.825 ones as freshmen for 11 undergraduate programs and 700 as postgraduate students for specialists level 1 and specialists level 2. Notably, the Bachelor of Nutrition welcomed its first class of admitted students.

On this occasion, the sponsors awarded 89 scholarships with a total value of over 237 million VND for students overcoming difficulty during their studies.

Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tien, PhD., MD., (46 years old), Director of the Cardiovascular Center and Head of the Department of Internal Cardiology at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, has officially been awarded the title of the youngest professor in the medical field in 2025. For Professor Tien, being recognized as one of the youngest professors in medicine this year is a great honor; at the same time, this carries an even greater responsibility, as this milestone reminds him to continually maintain passion and dedication across all aspects of his work.
