Folk songs from the three regions converge in Hue

HNN.VN - On the evening of July 4, at the City Cinema and Culture Center, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with Hue City People’s Committee, held the opening ceremony of the 2026 “Playing folk musical instruments and singing folk songs from the three regions” Festival.

Organized by the Department of Grassroots Culture, Family and Libraries in collaboration with Hue City Department of Culture and Sports, the Festival has attracted 26 amateur art troupes from provinces and cities across the country.

In the opening remarks, the organizing committee emphasized that folk songs are among Vietnam’s intangible cultural heritages, formed from the working process, daily life, and artistic creativity of generations of People. With their diversity of melodies, styles, and content, folk songs reflect the daily life, customs, natural landscapes, and aspirations of people in each region, contributing to creating a vivid picture of Vietnamese culture.

The Festival aims to promote and showcase the quintessential values of intangible cultural heritage through traditional folk songs and traditional musical instruments closely tied to community life.

Following the opening ceremony, participating troupes entered the first round of competition performances. The festival will run through July 8, with performances held every afternoon and evening at the stage of the City Cinema and Culture Center. The closing ceremony is scheduled for the evening of July 8.
