Leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism speaking during discussions between the two agencies

During the 2021-2025 period, cooperation between the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the City Border Guard achieved significant results. Notably, facilities and equipment for information, communications and external information activities in border and coastal areas were gradually upgraded. Four border guard stations were equipped with information and communication equipment, while two outdoor information display installations at Chan May - Lang Co Port and A Dot Border Gate were built, maintained and refurbished.

The grassroots information system has also continued to be modernised. To date, the city has installed 1,481 loudspeaker clusters using information and telecommunications technology across all 40 commune-level administrative units, connected to the city's central information system. This has helped improve access to information for residents, particularly those in remote and border areas.

At the conference, delegates discussed measures to strengthen cooperation in the coming period, focusing on bringing cultural and sports activities, as well as books, to residents in border and coastal areas. They also proposed organizing joint sporting events to strengthen ties between the two agencies.

The two agencies signing a cooperation program for the 2026-2030 period

At the conference, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the City Border Guard Command signed a cooperation program covering culture, sports, tourism, information, communications and external information activities in Hue City's border and coastal areas for the 2026-2030 period. Under the agreement, the two agencies will work together to strengthen public information campaigns, promote legal awareness and raise public understanding of the importance of protecting national borders and maritime sovereignty. They will also organize cultural performances, sporting activities and film screenings for officers, soldiers and local residents.

The program will also focus on establishing book collections, promoting reading culture, preserving cultural heritage and enriching cultural life at the grassroots level. In tourism, the two sides will cooperate in developing and promoting coastal, lagoon, community-based and ecotourism products while ensuring national defence and security.

Another priority is sharing information and coordinating responses to false information concerning maritime sovereignty and border security, alongside further investment in communication equipment at border guard stations. In external information activities, the two agencies will jointly organize cultural and tourism exchanges between Hue City and the Lao provinces of Sekong and Salavan. These activities aim to introduce Vietnam's people, culture and development achievements to communities in the neighbouring provinces.

The two sides will also strengthen cooperation in professional training, digital transformation, the development of shared databases and the mobilization of resources to ensure effective implementation of the cooperation program during the 2026-2030 period.
