Opening the briefing, the leader of the Department of Finance presented the socio-economic situation for July and the first seven months of 2026, along with key tasks and solutions for the coming time.
Accordingly, Hue City’s GRDP grew an estimated 8.33% in the first half of the year, with first-quarter growth of 9.4%, and second-quarter growth of 7.46%.
The services sector continued to post solid growth, with tourism performing particularly well thanks to activities held within the framework of Hue Festival. Industry and construction remained a key growth driver, with the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) increased by 10.2%.
Total realized investment capital over the first seven months reached 21,285 billion VND, up 13.9% year-on-year. The city approved 38 new projects with total registered capital of 22,660 billion VND, including four FDI projects. A total of 700 new enterprises were established, a 33% increase in number. Culture, society, education, health, and science and technology continued to receive attention.

Regarding priorities for the coming time, the city has set a GRDP growth target of 10% or higher for 2026. Under the revised scenario, third-quarter growth must reach 11.6 - 12.1% and fourth-quarter growth 11.3 - 11.8%, with industry and construction targeted to grow 12 - 13%, services 9.5 - 10.5%, and agriculture 4 - 4.5%.
Also at the briefing, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports Nguyen Huy Hien outlined press communication priorities for August 2026, covering political tasks, socio-economic development, and social welfare across the city.
Notably, press agencies will focus coverage on the implementation of the Resolution of the 3rd Plenum of the 14th Party Central Committee, along with results from anti-corruption, anti-wastefulness, and anti-misconduct efforts over the first half of the year and upcoming priorities. The city also plans to step up communication on disease prevention and control; proactive response to heavy rain, landslides, flash floods, and natural disasters; coverage of major national holidays; preparations for the 2026-2027 academic year; and achievements in educational reform.
In addition, press agencies will continue disseminating information on the Press Law 2025 and its implementing decrees and circulars, along with promotion of festivals and cultural and tourism events in August.

Many questions centered on projects running behind schedule, difficulties in site clearance and investment procedures, and coordination among departments and sectors to resolve obstacles for investors.
