The "Bun bo Hue - The Legend of Van Cu and Huong Ngu Symphony" show brings to life the cultural and historical story behind the Ancient Capital's iconic dish through a contemporary language.

The show consists of three acts featuring 11 artistic performances. Act One, ‘The Lady of Van Cu Noodles and the Dance of the Jade Noodles’, opens with a theatrical depiction of morning dew along the Bo River. Act Two, ‘The Origin of Excellence’, is followed by Act Three, ‘A Bridge Through Time - The Breath of the Contemporary Era’. Together, the three acts transport audiences back to the peaceful countryside, where humble grains of rice, transformed through the dedicated craftsmanship of generations of artisans, became the rice noodles that today represent the essence of Hue's culinary heritage, carrying the flavors of the homeland far beyond its borders.

"People in Hue often say that good rice noodles begin with quality rice. A rich, authentic flavor comes from the devotion of the artisans, and preserving a culinary treasure requires generations quietly passing down their craft. Every rhythm of the wooden pestle echoes the heartbeat of the village. Every turn of the stone mill reflects the passage of time. Every stream of water nourishes an entire culinary tradition. Bun bo Hue is therefore more than a dish, it is a symbol of memory, identity, and community," a representative of the organizing committee said.

* Earlier, on the afternoon of July 24, a Vietnam Record certification event for the preparation of Bun bo Hue was also held.

Presenting the Vietnam Record certificate at the event

Thirty culinary artisans representing northern, central, and southern Vietnam - guardians of the country's traditional culinary heritage - worked together to prepare authentic bowls of Bun bo Hue using traditional methods. A total of 300 bowls of the signature noodle soup were served to visitors during the event.

The achievement was officially evaluated on-site by Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings), which certified the record for the ‘Largest simultaneous Bun bo Hue cooking and serving event’, recognizing its contribution to promoting and celebrating the culinary heritage of Hue as part of the ‘Hue - Culinary Capital’ program.

During the event, the Department of Tourism also presented certificates of recognition to the culinary artisans and chefs from across Vietnam who participated in preparing and showcasing Bun bo Hue, honoring their dedication to preserving and promoting the rich culinary traditions of the Ancient Capital to residents and visitors alike.
